Training Courses

Puppy Obedience

Puppy Obedience is for a dog 5 months of age or younger. In this course, your puppy will learn basic obedience behaviors. A description of each behavior can be found in the drop-down menu under “Skills and Behaviors”. You will also learn about potty training, desensitization, socialization, routines, and dog language.

Basic Adult Obedience

Basic Adult Obedience is for a dog 6 months of age or older. In this course, your puppy will learn basic obedience behaviors. A description of each behavior can be found in the drop-down menu under “Skills and Behaviors”. You will also learn about desensitization, socialization, routines, and dog language.

Advanced Adult Obedience

Advanced Adult Obedience is for dogs who have already passed the Basic Adult Obedience or skills are at an equal level. In this course, we will refine all behaviors using distance, distraction, and duration. Most of our sessions in this course will be at an agreed-upon public park. Meeting at a public park adds the appropriate amount of distraction to strengthen your dog’s behaviors. We will begin to phase out treats. By the end of this course, you will no longer use treats as reinforcement.

Canine Good Citizen

Canine Good Citizen is a certificate given by the AKC that states that your dog is a good member of society.  The CGC training and test were designed by the AKC to show that your dog has mastered the ten basic skills that build confidence and good manners at home and when you are out and about.
Some of the benefits of obtaining a CGC certificate are, the good manners learned during this training last a lifetime, you can save money on insurance and pet deposits, this is the first step toward becoming a therapy or service dog, and allowances for your dog in cases of breed restrictions.
The 10 basic skills for the CGC Test:

  • Accepting a friendly stranger
  • Sitting politely for petting
  • Appearance and Grooming
  • Out for a walk/Loose leash walking
  • Walking through a crowd
  • Sit/Down on cue and Stay in place
  • Coming when called
  • Reaction to other dogs
  • Reaction to distraction
  • Supervised separation

Group Obedience Sessions

Group Obedience sessions are for dogs who are looking for great ability to overcome distractions. In this course, your dog will learn basic, advanced obedience behaviors or AKC Canine Good Citizen training. The greatest benefit of group training is socialization! Your dog will gain so much while taking these classes! A description of each behavior can be found in the drop-down menu under “Skills and Behaviors”. You will also learn about desensitization, socialization, routines, and dog language.

Behavior Modifications

Behavior Modification is for dogs who suffer from anxiety and/or aggression. Some examples include but are not limited to thunderstorm anxiety, leash aggression, separation anxiety, and animal aggression. This can be a course on its own or be included with any obedience course (with the exception of the CGC course).
